One of the areas I’ve been wanting to work on, is trying to speed up and finish paintings faster. I’ve found that challenging, as I always want the end result to be my best work and so it tends to take me longer. So in the last few months, I’ve set myself the task of speed sketching.
To start this off, I went along to a life drawing session organised by All The Young Nudes held at Sloans in Glasgow. Wow – I was caught out on the first few sketches as the bell kept ringing every 5 mins, which meant the model moved each time. I loved the format. The first few were really quick, then it went to 15 mins, and then a couple at 30 mins each. It definitely takes a bit of getting used to, and I am looking forward to going back.
Here are the sketches from that first session.
